Killaloe Coast Guard unit respond to a vessel with engine difficulty which also had an injured person on board south of Portumina on the Northern shore of Lough Derg.

At 15:40hrs the crew were requested to launch by the watch officer's at the Marine Coordination centre in Valentia.
Reports came in that the vessel had engine difficulty with four persons on board and one person had sustained burn injuries from the overheated engine.

At 15:55hrs a boat crew launched from Pier Head Killaloe while a shore team responded to the incident by road.

At 16:30hrs the boat crew reached the causality vessel and a crew member was transferred on board with First Aid equipment to treat the injured person.

The vessel was taken on tow back to Cloondavaun Marina where a shore team were on hand to assist in the safe mooring of the vessel.
The causality on board was then assessed by an off duty Paramedic and agreed to make his way to a doctor for further assessment and treatment.

While responding to the first incident another vessel requested help on Lough Derg north of Killaloe near Two Mile Gate on the Clare shore.
The causality vessel was taken on tow to safety by a passer-by but with engine difficulty still required assistance getting back to safe mooring in Killaloe.
The Marine Coordination centre informed the Killaloe Coast Guard crew of the second incident and their assistance might be needed while on route back to Killaloe.

The Garda Water Unit who were on patrol in the Killaloe area were contacted and asked to assist, they took the vessel on tow back to Killaloe where it was safely moored.

At 18:10hrs the Killaloe Coast Guard boat crew were safely back at base followed by the shore team at 18:30hrs.
